A Summerhouse for George Howard

'A Summerhouse for George Howard' is a replica in miniature of quaker poet John Scott's octagonal summer house (which stands above his subterranean shell lined grotto built in the 1760s). It is also a response to a more recent grotto and shell garden just outside Bournemouth, built by retired miner George Howard, which existed for about 40 years but which was dismantled in the mid 1990s.
